Before this could happen, we have day jobs. Todd is a dermatologist and sold the practice that he started in 2005 in 2021. Joy worked in a big consulting firm before doing some part time consulting since 2021. Selling the derm practice enabled Todd to find a better boat. Joy's only requirements are [...]
a watermaker and a washing machine.
We have 3 kids - Clark, Paige, and Hazel. The plan was when Hazel would leave for college was when we would do the sailing thing. Well, she starts college in Fall 2024. The kids are excited and probably scared about the whole thing. We've always told them that we would fly them to wherever port we would be at. Clark will join us for the beginning of the rally as he prepares to take the MCAT in 2025.
Joy didn't grow up sailing let alone swimming, despite being born in the Philippines where there are more than 7700 islands. To ease Joy in the sailing "life", we, as a family, have chartered boats primarily in the British Virgin Islands. The first time we did it, she didn't want to do all the chores so we had a captain and cook (Mike and Lesley). The next time we chartered, we bareboated - did everything ourselves. Doing it for a week is doable; doing it for 18 months...we'll see.
