1. Alexia relaunched

01 October 2010 | Thunderbolt, GA
A calm day
It's great to be back in the US and to find Alexia snug and warm at the Hinckley Yard in Thunderbolt, GA. The yard have done well completing all the jobs and she is now heavier with lots of new 'things' on board - new rugs, fuel filters, bilge monitor, low battery alarm, new fire extinguishers. We have also replaced a lot of the energy hungry halogen lights with LEDs. We removed the old galley light fitments completely replacing them with two strips of 12v LEDs from the local Autozone store - fitted neatly behind the wood coving they are not glaring and very much improve the area. The old halogens bulbs were prone to shatter as they got so hot - now there is no chance of me serving glass fragments with dinner!

This was so successful that we did the same with the Navigation area installing red lights - these can remain on all night without the batteries even knowing about them as they draw so little.
