Botanical Gardens - Ft Lauderdale

Some views from around Fort Lauderdale
Opened in 1927 this is one of the oldest botanical gardens in South Florida and contains some of the last natural jungle growth in South Florida. It is home to 83 species of Florida native birds and animals.
A few hours walking through spectacular natural gardens with the heady scent of herbs and other fragrant plants, towering 200 year old oaks and just the smells and sounds of nature was a complete joy and totally relaxing.
This roseate spoonbill posed for us - spoonbills are specialised foragers and use their odd shaped bills to strain small food items out of the water.
