Transiting the Whale Passage

28 January 2013
Green Turtle Cay
We are at Bluff House Marina on Green Turtle Cay.

After leaving Elbow Cay, we enjoyed a lovely day transiting the Whale Cay Passage and the following day planned a 20-mile sail to Spanish Cay, a lovely 3-mile long cay of tropical beaches and palm groves.

Next morning, however, weather conditions worsened and we began bashing into a 35k knot head wind which, coupled with the sideways Atlantic swell squeezing in between the islands, was not at all enjoyable so we decided to go for 'Plan B' and sail over to the sheltered anchorage behind Nunjack Cay.

We could have spent more time on this wonderfully unspoiled island, but sadly, our crew are due to leave for their flight to London and so we're back in Green Turtle Cay ready for Hugh & Delma's departure tomorrow.

This picture is one of Hugh's taken on the quiet side of Green Turtle Cay.
