A very large fish..or is it a Beneteau?

06 March 2013
Treasure Cay, Gt Abaco Island
Tony is by himself on this trip and we felt it was important to blend him into boat life as soon as possible so William appointed him Sommelier within minutes of his arrival.

An appointment which Tony relished as, unbeknown to us at the time, he was armed with the ingredients for his 'secret' Pimms recipe.

Having sampled this concoction before we knew it to be a real winner, bringing on a sense of disorientation long before reaching the bottom of the first glass -we introduced several American cruisers to it during the next two weeks.

Often, when we saw them the next morning they confessed to having no recollection of their evening with us!!

Tony's visit was also memorable by the fact that within three days of him being aboard not only did we catch fish but we also 'caught' two sailboats!

We were trailing our fishing lines, minding our own business and enjoying the morning when a chartered Moorings Beneteau seemed intent on maintaining a collision course with us. He passed so close to our stern that he snagged our lines. We both stopped dead and as we reversed toward each other a member of their crew dived overboard to untangle the jumbled mess from around the dinghy they were trailing.

Our second encounter was another sailboat that dragged its anchor in Treasure Cay harbor. With every buffeting gust it came closer and closer to us until it was alongside. There was no-one aboard.

Tony and William managed to get a line attached but it was several hours before the very grateful owners returned from the shopping expedition to rescue her.

At the end of this traumatic day as we relaxed on deck Tony snapped this lovely photograph of the sunset at Treasure Cay.
