Large ships need a helping hand

Keeping the big boys in the channel
A fleet of stout tugs operate on the River here at Norfolk/Portsmouth. All of them are over 50ft long but they look tiny compared with the big ships they have to deal with.

Elizabeth River is very busy and the main purpose of the tug here in the harbor is to assist large vessels to manoeuvre around or through the congested area with careful nudging to keep them on track.
