Nice day snorkeling and visiting Georgetown

We had a great day today. We are anchored in a beautiful and really well protected area. In the morning, while Sirius got a walk with Alexi, I hiked up to some ruins from the Walker Estate, built in 1784 by a loyalist (loyal to the crown during the American revolution and escaping Florida when Britain gave that to Spain). It is buried in the jungle but interesting to explore.

Afterwards, we went into George Town and found someone who was willing to wash our clothes, got some groceries and I found some 1.5" tubing that I needed (yeah!).

After that, we went out snorkeling.

Be sure to check out our YouTube channel where you can see the upside down jelly fish video.
to find our channel just search for: "alexi and bob youtube"

The Cassiopeia (upside down or mangrove jellyfish) is a photosynthetic little thing like coral that has zooxanthellae in their tentacles. Zooxanthellae is an algae that is symbiotic to the jellyfish. It absorbs sunlight and photosynthesize it into energy for the jelly. With the zooxanthellae in the Cassiopeia's tentacles, the jellyfish will sit upside down on the bottom in the shallows.

On the YouTube channel you can also see some feather duster worms video. Sabellidae, or feather duster worms, are tube worms with feathery tentacles protruding from their tubes (made out of a tough, combination of secretions and sand and shells). They have basic eyes and retract when they feel threatened. It is super cool to watch them to retract as I get near them

It is a huge job to replace the fuel tanks on a boat. Fortunately, they last about 20-25 years. So, we are not likely to ever do this again.
