James/Clear and windy
We finally got out of the slip, pumped the head, fueled, and left Halifax Harbor at 0930 today. On the ICW motoring seems the natural thing, but we always have a sail out. We made good speed, considering how loaded down we are, with the genoa reefed once out in 20-30+ knots all day. At the railroad bridge just above Titusville, after bashing, wind on the nose, three plus nautical miles from the Haulover Canal, we saw relatively calm water in the anchorage by the bridge ... "pick your way into 10 feet of water," the guide said, and we did. Now swinging of 60 feet of chain, and snug as a bug in a rug. It is really nice to be out on the hook again.
