Day 6, Wednesday, will be our most ambitious since we departed northern Virginia last Friday. We are anticipating 10-12 hours on the ICW to cover 160 or so miles. 16 mph is only an average as we face a number of bridges and very narrow channels, including Myrtle Beach's infamous 3-mile Rock Pile. The run outside from Cape Fear to Charleston would be a lot shorter and much faster, but the forecast is for winds out of the south with 3-foot waves early and increasing as the day progresses. We have had our share of getting beaten up on the Chesapeake Bay and Albemarle Sound. Check a detailed forecast map and, for sure, a deep low pressure system is expected to form near Savannah in the next 24-36 hours. We still expect to spend at least one night in Hilton Head, hopefully Friday into Saturday. Great friends and a potential familial connection to meet. We hope you're enjoying Sudzy's journal entries. I've read accounts of difficulties adding comments to those entries. Please let the Webmaster know. AND THANKS FOR FOLLOWING!
