Peregrination

Peregrination is a journey, especially a long or meandering one. Our yacht is named after the "God of all Falcons", the Peregrine Falcon - the fastest animal on Earth.

Proper ocean sailing

09 June 2018
Wow. Today we have absolutely been making up for lost time. 24 hours ago we were becalmed and doing zero knots. Today we’ve had to put the brakes on and have stepped down sail twice going all the way from full mainsail and poles out genoa right down for the night to a fully reefed main and only flying 1-3 of the smaller job. Despite that we are surfing along at 6-7 knots. Decent sized swell and seeing the stern of the boat corkscrewing as she gets her heels in and goes for it is certainly exhilarating.

Lots of sail handling practice today and certainly pleased to have done all the training and to have on board two massively experienced sailors from whom we are learning loads. Thank you John and Bernard.

We stopped at this delightful island before setting off for Gibraltar. Loved it, peaceful, full of charm and the people were just so friendly and helpful. Would return in a shot.

This was our fun afternoon exploring the Rock. We took a minibus tour with an excellent guide Fidelio who got us up close and personal with the monkeys as you can see here.

We visited the Sealift 3 for our annual lift and anti-foul and boy oh boy did we have a dirty bottom. Great service and afloat again less than 24 hours later with everything done on the hull and ready for the 2018 season. Azores here we come.
