Weather today was a lot like yesterday except that is was cloudy early and then burned off - and then clouded up in the PM like yesterday. Windwise, we started with ~8 kts from the S. We weighed anchor and were underway by 7:15 - all sails and both engines, makng 6+ kts. The sails idn't do a lot given the light wind, but they made the motion much easier. Eventually the wind clocked to W and strengthened. We dropped all sail, turned off the engines and ran with our spinnaker. Wind was about 15 from the W, we were doing ~5+ to ESE and showed an apparent wind of ~10 kts. This continued for several plesant hours - sunny, gentle ride and good progress toward our destination. We had 47 nm to cover, so we really couldn't afford to go much less than 5 kts, but 'Spinny' was doing that just fine. Then we had a minor squall. The rain wasn't that much and the wind topped out in the low 20's, but it clocked again and that made Spinny want to gybe and that made Mark very unhappy. I went forward to pull down the sock, but it was jammed. Finally I just lowered the spinnaker and reeled it in wiht my arms. A bit got in the water, but no damage done. Of course by then, the squall was over and we had essentially no wind. So we motored some more until we reached our destination. I know we have bee here a couple of times before, but it sure doesn't look familiar. Anyway it is a safe place for the night and we move on tomorrow. After I post this, I'll start on supper - gumbo with Deb's left-over fried chicken, fresh caught lobster instead of shrimp, and locally made andouille (there is a German in Bocas who has started making sausage and smoked meats that are all delicious. We brought several this trip.) Life really is hard when you are sailing.

Always & All Ways's Photos - Main
In the Spring of 2016, we sailed from Bocas del Toro, Panama, to Cuba and back with stops at the Albuquerque Cays, Providencia, and the Cayman Islands. We cruised the South coast of Cuba some and then left the boat for some inland excursions.
