Time to Play

20 March 2018 | Rio Chagres
Mark
We had the most restful night of the cruise so far and awakened to this magical place refreshed. With nothing or at least little to do. Our haul-out is set for Thursday. The crane still isn't fixed but hopefully will be by the time I get back from helping with our friends' canal transit. We have tickets for back to US (April 26 on United). There is little more we can do until we haul-out. Actually today I once again sprayed all the rigging turnbuckles with WD-40, hopefully making them easier to take apart when the time comes. Then Deb & I together identified and disconnected all the wires going up the mast (me crammed under the settee where the junction box is and Deb in the anchor locker identifying each wire that went up the mast for me to disconnect in turn.) except the wind instrument. We left that to have it on our trip to Shelter Bay on Thursday. Probably won't need it, but why not keep it 'in case'? That pretty much completed all we can do before haul-out so the rest of today and tomorrow is just to play. We read, did watercolors in the cockpit instead of the salon as it was sunny! Tomorrow we will take Goldie in the dinghy up one of the tributaries. I'm not sure how impressed she will be, but we might find a sandbar or someplace where she can touch ground again. That would make her happy. She is doing better at being a 'boat dog' expecially since we stopped moving so much, but she still stares longingly at the land. We'll see.

Always & All Ways's Photos - Main
In the Spring of 2016, we sailed from Bocas del Toro, Panama, to Cuba and back with stops at the Albuquerque Cays, Providencia, and the Cayman Islands. We cruised the South coast of Cuba some and then left the boat for some inland excursions.
