Guess Where We Are?!?!

19 May 2007 | Bahia del Sol, El Salvador
Jim & Amy
Oh My Gosh! Things have happened so fast! Jim & I are both in El Salvador!!!! What a crazy past few weeks! I really didn't believe I was here until today and we've been here since Wednesday! So you're probably asking, and rightly so, "Why?" We'll try to keep it short,.... and, well, simple.
In a nutshell, Sunshine's repairs are taking longer than we, and when I say we, I mean, not just Jim & I, but also others who we received advice from, had anticipated. Even if the repairs we're to be done in the next few days, the fair weather window to cross the Gulf is no longer. With it being close to hurricane season, the winds are just too high to try to cross.
So why does that bring us to ES you ask? Well, by Sunshine not coming to Lake Michigan this summer, we had to move on to plan....hmmmm, what are we on ...maybe L, M, no, must be at least N by now. Which looks like it is something, maybe like this, possibly. We, our family will fly, or drive or somehow get ourselves here this fall, or as soon as our house sells, and start our journey from here, getting other cruisers and locals that we have met here to instruct us on sailing. Or something like that...possibly. There's alot of other details we have to decide on, but the main reason Jim & I came down now, was to scout out what exactly still needs to be done on Sunshine that we were planning on doing back home and the feasability of provisioning the way we would prefer, to start our journey from here.
We will be flying home tomorrow, and have taken lots of pictures that we will try to get posted soon. Right now it's time for us to get back to the boat, we are sitting at a Hotel Restaurante that has internet access, and get packed and rested, we have to catch a 7:15 flight at the aeropuerto which is a 45 min. ride away-yawn.....hasta luego!

We purchased Sunshine in Feb. '07. She was in Bahia del Sol, El Salvador. We flew down in Nov. '07, spent 4 months getting her ready, building a new, larger dinghy, enjoying El Salvador & the friends we made. We then took the next 2 1/2 months sailing from there to Panama City. Now the next leg [...]
