Amy/ cold here & getting colder
Well, I know it's been some time since I last blogged. I kept waiting for more definite, more exciting things to write, like... "We bought a house that we absolutely love!", or "Sunshine is on her way to Michigan!", or at least something BIG! But, that's not the case...YET, and many of you have told me that you still check in from time to time to see if there is anything knew. And as I'm watching Jenaya play outside this late afternoon, on our first "BIG" snow- and I mean that in a 4 ½ year olds sense- like we got 2 inches, not from my perspective who grew up in the area where we used to get 18-24" at any given time! She's having a ball making snow angels, jumping into, well, on top of, the snow, catching snow flakes on her tongue, all things she hasn't done in 20 months, and has been looking forward to for the past several weeks. I thought of all of you who might like to catch up with us and find out "what's the scoop?" As I'm writing this, Bridget and Micah have not arrived home from school yet, they are both taking TaeKwonDo classes on Mon. & Wed. afternoons for almost an hour, and then Jim picks them up after work. They are really enjoying that, and I'm looking forward to hearing about their going to school today and how much fun they had playing in the snow there.
We are still staying with my parents, it's not at all what we planned, to be here this long. We were hoping to have something permanent before school started. We did find a house we really liked, but so did someone else, and they ended up bidding on it the same day as us and outbidding us. So it wasn't meant to be and we're okay with that, although at first I cried for the whole afternoon. We really liked that house. We are keeping eyes and ears open, but with winter coming, there's less on the market.
So what about Sunshine??? She is still on the Pacific side of Panama, on the Island I mentioned when we arrived home, Isla Taboga. The couple watching over her are doing a great job, and we are planning on a Spring '09 mini trip to Panama to get her bottom cleaned up good, by hauling her out and giving her a good scrubbing, sanding and repainting. Then going to the Pearl Islands for a few days, going through the canal and handing her over to a yet to be determined delivery crew.
With Thanksgiving approaching, it is so hard to believe that one year ago, we were busy packing, packing, packing, getting ready for our flight the day before Thanksgiving! It still seems all surreal. If we didn't have the pictures and the souvenirs, I still don't think I'd believe it! I'm adjusting back to the cold and snow better than I thought. When I look outside, I am NOT excited. But I haven't had to drive in it yet, or really even go out. All this pretty much just came within the last 24 hours. I love to look at it, I love snowy, Christmassy pictures. But that's where it ends for me. But at least it's not plain brown & grey anymore. All 3 kids are so excited, and especially to go skiing. We told them, since they're all so excited about it, they are not allowed AT ALL to complain even once that they are COLD!!! We'll go toss them in a snowbank!
Well, I could go on & on, especially do some back tracking about our busy summer. But I won't. I'll try and post monthly, I feel alittle guilty or silly using the Sailblogs sight, since sailing isn't really a part of our life right now. It's on the back burner for awhile. But Sunshine is still a part of our life, in our hearts, and we're doing as much as we can on this side of the canal to get back to the other side and back to the tropics and the lifestyle we so dream about! We hope you all have a Very Happy Thanksgiving and a joyous season of preparing for Christmas!
