Amy/ Hot, then rain
Still no main engine running. Jim worked on most of the day yesterday- Sunday. So our new fridge/freeze we brought down with us to freeze meat is not getting as cold as I'd like, only about 44 deg. We were also somehow out of propane, we were sure we had some still in the tank when we left, thankfully Chuy & Susan let us borrow one off their boat. He also worked on the carbourator on our generator for a great part of the day, rebuilding it, to get our generator going. Finally! Something that works! Jim sprayed about a ½ can of Raid in that food locker, & let it sit overnight, then today he took out all the packages of food out, swept out the dead roaches- you really don't want to know how many- we wiped down w/ bleach water what was salvagable, threw out what wasn't. Jim talked to my Dad today for advice on the diesel. Tried those ideas today, still not running though. She sounds closer to starting, but not close enough! I cleaned 2/3 of the galley today. It was a scorcher of a day today, right from the beginning, until about 3, then the wind kicked in & then we got a little shower around 4 & cooled things off a bit. And if you know me, if I say it's hot, everyone else would be completely miserable 'cuz I love the heat! I also epoxied about a dzn. Spots on the back starboard deck & fiberglassed them.
Yesterday we saw a school of yellow fin tuna swimming around our boat chasing some smaller fish- that was cool! We have been working from sun up- 6 a.m. Until way past sundown which is around 7 here, & falling into bed around 9 dog tired.
