The Worst of Dockings

10:00 AM A good SE wind allowed us to set the sails wing on wing entering the channel. It was a great, albeit short sail. Then we pulled the sails in and motored to the Cape, listening for the cruise ships that had clearance before us entering the channel. The happy sign of dolphins near the bow greeted us.
12:45 PM We entered our slip at the Cape Marina. As tired as we were, I would like to say that it was easy, but unfortunately I would a liar. It was one of the worst CF dockings we have ever had. The dock hand who was reminiscent of Gopher on the Love Boat, knew nothing about docking a boat. To make matters worse it was not a floating dock, and had stern tie ups that we eventually had to lower the dingy to secure. Picture me, tired and out of sorts trying to remember how to row a boat, floundering in the dingy... well I can't go on with that...it's too painful. As a parting shot, the dock hand says, as he's leaving, "Oh, in case I forgot to tell you, we have a five foot tide here." Thanks, a**hole! Thank God, our neighboring boat had an angel aboard. He helped fend us off his boat and patiently helped us get settled. There is a God.
4:00 PM We got things settled, took a much needed shower, took a taxi to a nearby restaurant, ate , came home and were asleep by 6:00 PM. Ahhhhhhhhh!
