Drum Roll Please! Meet our NEW dinghy!!! Not sure when or if she will have a name but nonetheless she is PERFECT! She is an Avon Rover 310 measuring 10'2" long by 5'3" wide offering a smooth ride (ON PLANE) when paired with her perfect companion: our 9.9 outboard.
We opted for the inflatable keel design because we no longer have davits and storage while offshore will be down below. Otherwise, if it was a RIB we would have to keep it on the foredeck taking up a lot of room.
One of our Super Cool friends Ben helped us to weld an outboard hoist that mounts on our wind generator pole. We installed it recently and were able to lower the big mamma jamma down to the new dinghy effortlessly...well somewhat. Is anything on a boat effortless?
This photo is kind of like "Where's Waldo" with all of the stainless steel bars we have going on. But, if you look closely, mounted on the vertical pole, port side, stern....you will see our hoist! THANKS BEN!!
Our last dinghy served us well in the Bahamas but we could not get on plane and often we got very wet in the smallest chop. Earlier this summer we sold her to someone who could use her more fittingly. Bye Bye Baby Dinghy!
