Kids are Free!

Kids get in FREE to the San Diego Zoo during the month of October! Wow! At $27 per person, this is a big deal. So, yesterday, we took advantage of the great savings and took our kids to the world famous San Diego Zoo. The weather was great and the crowds were small. The Giant Pandas were pretty amazing. We saw most of the animals there and had a great time. We even saw our new friends from sv Valparaiso.

We tried to leave the kids, but the zookeepers said they didn't have an exhibit big enough for them. So, we'll keep them on the boat cruising the world for now.

As a school assignment, we had the kids take their journals with them and mark how many animals they saw as well as how many were doing certain activities such as sleeping, eating, climbing, playing, etc. Today, they will make a graph displaying their results. We'll try to get a picture of it on the blog later.

Anyway, we did have one close call when one of the elephants broke free from its cage and nearly crushed Christian. Fortunately, Abby knows how to speak "elephant" and stopped him just before his enormous foot smashed Christian to a pancake. We were all so relieved.
