Home and Easter

31 March 2018 | St Thomas
Ld
We sailed home Saturday afternoon. As hard as the wind was blowing out of the North, we were very protected on the south side of St John and had a very calm, enjoyable sail back. We wanted to be home so we could go to Sunrise Easter service. It was 6:00 on the beach at Smith bay. Very pretty but unfortunately, the
no-see-ums wanted to attend also

Sunday afternoon was spent with friends who cooked a fish head that we got for them. It was very tasty.

Petroglyphs

Here is a picture carved on the rocks. Today we would call this “tagging”. Probably some gang symbol from prehistoric times.

Hike to petroglyphs

30 March 2018 | St John
Ld
We hiked 2.1 miles uphill most of the way to the petroglyphs on St John. We had hiked part way before but never made it. Little did I know there is a spring fed waterfall that comes over the cliff and down to a pool where it disappears underground. Pretty cool area. Next time, I want to try to get to the top of the cliff.

Lameshur Bay

29 March 2018 | At John
Ld
Still very windy but we sailed up to Lameshur Bay on the south side of S.t John to meet our friends. We went south to avoid a big swell from the storms up north. South side was very sheltered and calm. Headed over to Double Trouble for drinks, steaks and cards. Tomorrow we hike.

P.S. (added by the Admiral) And we also had delicious fudge and Sangria aboard Double Trouble. We were honored to be their first guests.

Christmas Cove

28 March 2018 | Christmas Cove
Ld
Spent day in Christmas Cove. A front went through and it was very windy with winds out of the north--so we decided to head across to Cowpet Bay. Wind was so strong that the boat was healing over with no sail raised as we crossed the channel. Back out tomorrow.

So I was wrong

Big rainstorm came through just before sunset
