Andromeda’s Eyes on the horizon

25 May 2020 | The Harborage, St. Petersburg, Fla.
Cap’n GSH | Sunny and fair
Andromeda's Captain has a clear eye on the far horizon using the premiere optical tool: Steiner Commander's.
I was amazed when I first put a pair of Steiner Commander's to my eyes at the Annapolis Saillboat Show in the summer of 1990. I never imagined I would spend $1k for a pair of binoculars until this moment, but I had to have a pair. They served me well over the years, but the rubber clad skin began a slow chemical degradation. After some time, 2014, I was moved to seek a repair, if possible, and sent them to Steiner.
Their repair service called with an amazing verdict. "Sir, we cannot repair, but your Steiner's are warranteed for life, so a new pair, Steiner Commander 7 x 50C, are on their way." 24 years after purchase and a free replacement! These now retail for $1,569. This is the most amazing warranty experience of this sailor's life.
