Still sailing
14 December 2016 | Sailing out from the Gold Coast, Queensland Australia.
Cam "H"
We have changed our plans once again, we had decided to sail straight past the Gold Coast and we intend making Yamba in New South Wales our next port. We are trying to slow down to arrive at the entrance to the Clarence River Bar just before the top of the tide. This should give us the safest entry from the open sea.
We left Tangalooma on Moreton Island at 0530 this morning and we plan to be at the entrance to Yamba at 0800 tomorrow morning. The wind has been a bit of a mixed bag, starting off very light this morning and we had just over 20 knots this afternoon, as the sun set the wind has dropped to anywhere between 8 to 13 knots.
We have a full moon lighting our way, the lights of the Gold Coast are well and truly shinning bright and we are sharing this passage with Deanne and Paul on their yacht called Graf Spee. Trying to kocat them is a battle as there are plenty of fishing trawlers about.
The photo shows where the tides are at, so we don’t have any excuses when it comes time to cross the bar.
Life is pretty sweet on board Annecam.
