We love Iluka
20 December 2016 | Iluka/Yamba, New South Wales, Australia
Cam "H"
Here we are, it has been seven days since we crossed the Clarence River Bay and anchored in Iluka Bay. In that time we have been to Yamba in our dinghy to catch up with my Aunty Verna, Uncle Lindsay and one of my Cousins John. We have had several excursions into Iluka and every time we have come away with a very nice feeling about the place, all of the locals are friendly and only want to help in any way that they can, the place has a nice clean and safe feel to it plus the anchorage is very sheltered, even when we had a solid blow on Sunday with the wind gusts hitting the low 40’s we still had a level of shelter that you would not find anywhere else nearby.
We have resigned to spending Christmas here as the only weather window to sail south is way too short to make it to the next safe anchorage before the next weather front passes through. So we have dressed our Christmas tree with some solar lights. Our Christmas tree just happens to be our mast and rig, Annie has decorated the saloon with pretty tinsel, it almost feels like Christmas here on Annecam.
The photo is one that my Aunty Verna took yesterday when she came over for a visit.
This is the season to be jolly on board Annecam.
