Day of rest on Annecam
08 January 2017 | Balls Head Bay, Sydney Harbour, NSW
Cam "H"
We are having a nice quiet day on board Annecam today, Annie has finished reading another book and I have just caught up on some emails, so it has almost been a day of rest.
We have had a couple of boats drag their anchors, one a very large motor boat came within a few metres of us and they were happy having lunch and a few drinks up on the fly bridge (the top deck) when I disturbed their party and informed them that they were dragging back into us, with the help from their bow thruster they managed to stay clear and re-anchor a bit further away.
It is a common problem around the world, that is boats dragging their anchors and it’s usually the skippers who are to blame, most times we find that they never drop enough chain or rode for the depth of water they are in. The motor boat that I mentioned earlier had less than twice the chain out compared to the depth of water, we like to have 4 to 1 and we always stay where we anchor with our Mantus anchor.
The photo is a motor boat exactly the same as the one that dragged down on top of us. Not saying but it might be the same boat, haha.
In life difficult roads often lead to the most beautiful destinations.
