Thanks to Mike and Rebeca on their ketch Frost who put this youtube video on one of their posts, we thought that it would be a good idea to share it with you. It’s the journey not the destination with Sean Connery and music by Vangelis.
We sailed to the Island of Ithaka, Greece in the Ionian Sea on the 19th of August 2013. It was almost like being home here in Australia with all of the Red Gum trees that were growing there and yes they were transported from Australia to be grown there as a fire wood timber. Even though our time on Ithaka was short, 8 days, we loved what little time we had there. We met Bill, Linda, Peter and Anne who were delivering Bill’s brother’s Australian flagged yacht Pave while we were there. Peter and Anne joined us on Annecam to transit the Corinth Canal, they are now on their own yacht Fourth Dimention, somewhere in Turkey.
One could not help falling in love with Ithaka, the locals were friendly, the food was great and the Vathy Harbour was a very sheltered place to anchor, it was quite amusing to watch the port police standing on shore blowing their whistles to make any yacht move out of the way of the ferry dock, we wondered what all the noise was the first time that another yacht was anchored too close to where the ferry comes in.
The photo is our early morning views we have on Annecam as the first rays of sunlight fall on Balls Head, here in Sydney Harbour behind Annecam.
