Cam "H"
This morning we weighed anchor and motored to Iron cove, to top up with fuel, water and to purchase some provisions in the best place we have found around Sydney Harbour, Birkenhead Shopping Centre has almost everything one could wish for and we have found that the prices here are better than most.
Just after we were about to leave the fuel dock at the Birkenhead Marina, I felt something let go on the gear linkage at the helm, I quickly found out that we only had reverse gear engaged and had no neutral or forward, so it was a short run going backwards to a clear spot to set our anchor. We quickly decided that everything was way too warm in the engine room to tackle the problem straight away, it could wait until after we had purchased our provisions. It was still warm to touch after we had squared everything away but we started sorting it out and it did take some time to find out that we had a broken cable that links the control up at the helm with the gear box. I decide that we could still move by engaging the gear selector by hand, so we motored back under the harbour bridge to Athol Bay and we managed to grab one of the free public moorings for the night right in front of the Taronga Zoo.
Never take life seriously, nobody gets out alive anyway.
