Catching up with Mary
19 March 2017 | Sailors Bay, North Bridge, Middle Harbour, NSW
Annie and Cam "H"
We are having an amazing time here in Sydney and last night was was a blast catching up with Mary. Mary and I used to work together on the odd occassion in Incident Management.
We worked for sister agencies, Mary worked for the Department of Sustainability and the Environment and I worked for the Country Fire Authority and at the time we had a very close working relationship when it came to emergency management dealing mostly with fire.
Annie and I are getting used to the public transport here in Sydney, last night we rode on the buses and trains from the northern suburbs to the south side of the city to the Edgecliff Station and had a short 300 metre walk to Mary's flat that she shares with a lovely young lady by the name of Camilla who also goes by the nick name of "Cam", yes there were two of us at the dinner table haha.
It was such a great evening together, talking about old times and about our travels, by the time we got back on board Annecam it was almost midnight and that is a late night for us.
The photo is one that Annie took the first time we visited Circular Quay, Mark Twain came here in 1895 and as you can see the New South Wales Ministry for the Arts placed this plaque on the writers walk near the Opera House. The following Mark Twain quote is used by many sailors,"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover".
Laughter is one of the best exercises in life, it's like running inside your head, you can do it almost anywhere and it's even better with a friend.
