On this day
21 June 2017 | Gladstone Marina, Capricornia Coast, Queensland, Australia
Annie and Cam "H"
We have not had a look back at where we were and what we were doing on this day for quite some time, so here we go
On this day in 2012 we had just purchased Annecam in the Marina Dalmatia, Sukosan, Croatia. Our broker Michael from BlueNautic made the whole deal very easy. We had just sent all the documents required to AMSA (Australian Maritime Safety Authority) to change the registration from an Austrian flagged ship to an Australian flagged ship. This whole process took weeks to add a couple of letters. We had just moved aboard but could not go sailing until the formal boat papers were in our possession.
On this day in 2013 we were anchored a small bay between Zdrelac and Kukljica on Opcina Mali Pasman and Otok Ugljan in Croatia (I know that most of you reading these names will be having a hard time with the pronunciation, we were there and we did also). We had just installed our solar panels and were more than impressed with how great they were.
On this day in 2014 we had just arrived in Villasemius, Sardinia after a very hard sail from Yasmine Hammermat, Tunisia. We were replacing two battens that broke in our main sail on that passage. We had just met Gary the Australian Skipper of the Black Swan; the Black Swan is a very large sailing catamaran. We also met Viv and Frank an Australian couple sailing on their catamaran Dominos. An English couple Chantal and David who came into the slip alongside Annecam on their sloop Seaclusion, we would be spending a lot more time with them further west in the Med as they lived in Spain.
On this day 2015 we were tied up inside the Rodney Bay Marina, St Luca in the Caribbean. We had our most regular guest with us, Fiona we affectionally call “Pivo” as her surname is Beer and the first time that she was a guest with us on Annecam was in Croatia and they call beer pivo. We were like drowned rats as we had been to the 20-20 cricket and the game had been washed out by a heavy tropical squall as we walked back to the marina in the rain, it was a fun night.
On this day in 2016 we had just filled all of our diesel jerry’s and our fuel tank for 0.81c aud per litre in the Marina Taina, Tahiti, as a ship in transit we could purchase the diesel duty free. This same evening, we had 12 on board for sun downers, Debbi and John, Paul, Jeanette and Neil, Rita and Gary, Kevin, Lynne and Eric plus the two of us makes twelve, so far that is our record for bodies in the cockpit. We had to wait in Tahiti for a new credit card to arrive from my bank in Australia, I could have thought of quite a few worse places to be waiting.
Last but not least this day 2017, we are tied up in the Gladstone Port Marina, there is almost no wind, the water is like glass, it’s nice and warm but not too hot. We have a little business to take care of and a new youtube video to up-load, if we can find a solid internet connection, before we start planning our next move up into the tropics, so until next time, take care.
The photo is Annie having a little fun inside the ferry terminal here in the Gladstone Marina.
