Annie and Cam "H"
After four nights and five days with our guests Terri and Ian on board we are back to just a crew of two and that would be us. We re-provisioned in Airlie Beach where we caught up with Terri and Ian for the last time and they were kind enough to give us a lift back to our dinghy via a few clothing shops for a bit of girl time retail therapy for Terri and Annie. We are now back out sailing around the Whitsunday Islands.
Last night we managed to pick up a public mooring in Stonehaven Bay on the west side of Hook Island and apart from the odd wind bullet it was a good night to catch up on some sleep.
We had a visit from the guys from Parks, they are the officials that patrol all of the National Parkes in the area, they were nice guys as they explained that the mooring that we were on was a 2 hour mooring between 0800 and 1600, after 1600 it becomes an overnight mooring, so if you are lucky enough to pick up one of the blue public moorings after 1600 like we did, you can stay on it until 0800 the next morning. Parks have also identified the marine sensitive areas and buoyed them off with white buoys that clearly state no anchoring on them.
This morning we sailed from Hook Island to Cid Harbour, for the ones reading this Cid Harbour is a bay on the west side of Whitsunday Island, it is not a Harbour, it does offer very good shelter from the prevailing south-east trade winds.
We had our first sighting of whales on our short passage this morning and it was only a matter of time before whales moved into and around the Islands. We had several pods showing off as we sailed north before we arrived here but this is the first sighting in the Whitsundays for us.
The photo is Ian showing his first aid skills by putting a bandage on my head for a small scratch.
