Hayman Is to Double Bay
10 July 2015
After Tuesday's sedate passage to Hayman Island, Wednesday's sail was far more boisterous. We were reaching to the mainland in 20-25 kt at up to 8.5 kt before deciding that two reefs in the main wouldn't hurt. As we have found before, this cost almost nothing in speed but reduced the heel considerably. We averaged 7.3 kt for the 17 miles across to Double Bay on the mainland, where we anchored in the eastern half. What a delightful place. No swell, quite sheltered, not crowded, no tourist operations. We will stay a second night and hope that the fish turn up tomorrow.
