A Wave Goodbye

Alert the media. Brightwork (most of the exterior wood) has three refresh coats - done, three bits of raw teak has four coats - two to go, one hatch has three coats - three to go, two hatches are sanded and primed - six coats to go. Should be completely finished by end of week with minimum effort per day. Don't know why it's so hard to get started on varnishing. Not bad once on a roll and it looks so freaking good. OK, but still happy it's not necessary but once a year. Consider this a plug for Awlwood MA. Considering stripping and varnishing rub rail if enough time left before departure. Probability on a scale of one to ten, 5. Oops, forgot the decimal. And the zero just after.
Monday
Indian winter.. huh?, what? Well there is now.. came on Saturday with lots of wind. Both set to end this afternoon. On return to the western hemisphere we can celebrate these few days of comfort by gazing at the bits of dust and sand embedded in the varnish - texture. It's not exactly carrying Darwin in our hearts, but as good as it's going to get.
Sunday
This year through 17 June there have been, according to astronomers, forty one asteroids that have passed earth within the moons orbit. If space carried sound we could probably hear the whoosh as some go by. This is yet another reason to get out and do stuff, almost anything you like while you can. Another good reason is that it's way more fun than having a crane haul you out of the La-Z-Boy after watching a week-long Gilligan's Island marathon on the telly. This is not, however, a viable excuse for, say, learning to jump out of a perfectly good airplane with a parachute strapped to your butt. Each day is a gift. As an aside, tsunamis caused by earthquakes and large objects falling into the sea are far less dangerous to a boat in deep water than to someone on shore.. unless, of course, it lands on you or near you or is really big - no plan is perfect. It's not the only reason to be out there, but hey, voodn't hoit! **Warning** Cultural appropriation. Feel free to pelt me with matzo balls.
"What happens if a big asteroid hits Earth? Judging from realistic simulations involving a sledge hammer and a common laboratory frog, we can assume it will be pretty bad." - Dave Barry
