Creating Order
30 July 2018 | Indian Ocean Day 13
Monday 30 July 2018
No matter how well you secure all the items that have found a place in the open while luxuriating in a marina for any length of time, not even to say a year and a half, the first bit of serious seaway will reveal those you didn't. Nothing broken yet, including body parts, so probably safe from here. Takes awhile to get back in the rhythm.
Although wind has come up a couple of times, oddly from the north (a rarity this location in July), to provide nice sailing for a short period, we motor at the moment with one (1) knot, which itself seems confused as to direction. Too little now and, sometime Wednesday, too much. No Goldilocks zone for us, but we proceed to a location north of track to ease transition. Ignore irony after aspersions have been cast in using weather forecast to make an actual decision. Sea still tall, but more comfortable except with squalls nearby.
Engine fairy has been on the job with not a hiccup in her bailiwick. Thanks sweetie. Your efforts are noted and appreciated. Now for the rest of the story. Temporary fix as expected did little to staunch leak onto bunk so fixed window and portlight on that side will acquire new bedding at next anchorage. Also populating to-do list, AIS not locking onto GPS signal - can't send or receive traffic information. Behind electrical panel and using internal antenna, it has worked OK for a couple of years until now. Running wire and installing external antenna should do. Both of these projects, following over two weeks of underway abstinence, will of necessity be scheduled around more important obligation to pass out in inebriated stupor subsequent to pruning wine and liquor ballast. One must order his priorities.
