Here we are hitting the road again. Hope it doesn't hit back. Don't believe I'll have any parting shots at Brazil as that moribund horse has been sufficiently flogged. Suspect this could be a great country if a few of the worst politicians and bureaucrats were made examples to the rest with exile to Venezuela. A bit of economic freedom might do wonders.
Saturday
All done with aft laz; bilge pump is doing its thing both manually and using new float switch. However, didn't appreciate how many other things needed attention before leaving. Without necessity to strap all the bits and pieces down while at dock for two months we got a touch slack.
And speaking of that, we moved to an end dock at slack tide to make departure easy once ready. Had one last meal with the little ladies in Vila des Pescadores and off we motored at 1230 on a fouled prop down the Paraiba River to a rather choppy sea. With plenty of sailing wind we're angling to the thousand meter line, another sixteen NM, where the continental shelf drops off, swell should be more even and a north-bound current may give us a lift. Have to average more than six knots to arrive Lencois anchorage before dark Wednesday. Expect to stay a couple of days to check zinc anodes and clean bottom as river at Jacare, which consists of diluted mud instead of water, is also a sewer.
