Upon regaining consciousness this morning, was please to discover that previous
entry, benefiting from extensive ingestion of ale, was more or less as coherent
as one might expect from this blog. Of course it would tend to be more
intelligible to the one who wrote it, so maybe not best evidence. Strangely,
although effects next morning from a boon of this magnitude are often less fun
than several hours earlier, they were in this case negligible. This is not
necessarily a good thing as feeling like crap the next day provides a moderating
influence for most people, allowing them to remain generally functional in daily
life.

Although surgery is scheduled for late afternoon Monday, hope to be released
next day. Assume nurse will get me out of bed that night for a bit of break-
dancing or some such, one of several checklist items that are required for
discharge. Included in list are "get dressed", "perform bathroom tasks" (all of
them?) and my personal favorite speaking of discharge, "at minimum, pass gas".
One wonders if staff will take a patient's word ("yes" will always be my answer)
or, if proof is required, how this is obtained. A sniff test, particularly with
a time lapse between performance and observation, is too uncertain and leaving
evidence on sheets too messy. When feeling the urge does one hold on until a
summoned nurse can witness audible verification? Should flushing be delayed if
evidence has been pottied? Seems like angst produced by this issue for those
unwilling to lie could be counterproductive and should be eliminated (no pun
intended).

Since some of crew did not have as blissful a morning as some others we
squandered a beautiful day aboard lounging about. Fortunately, more robust
member is quite accomplished at that very thing, so everyone was happy...
except, of course, party who felt like crap.

Testing for Covid-19 - required seventy two hours before surgery, acquiring pre-
op medications and "pre-hab" training at the rehabilitation center will be
accomplished tomorrow along with compulsory breakfast when able. Have decided
to fritter away more of the kid's inheritance by going into marina Sunday for a
week to indulge cripple even though he could easily be rolled onto dinghy from
floating dock and dragged aboard yacht with block and tackle. Wimps are such a
chore.
