No computer in hospital during operation and too late for Jan to visit and bring
it. A short reprieve for you.
Tuesday
Nineteen and a half hours from rolling into operating room to rolling out front
door - maybe they didn't like me. Anyway, doctor said procedure went perfectly,
as if he would say, "I screwed it up, but OK because I have great malpractice
insurance". Suspect, however, that he's correct. Since Doc Mason had to remove
old nail with a slap hammer plus all the other hardware and crushed bone,
probably took a little longer than normal so spinal block was augmented with
general. Must not have been too much as didn't feel any goofier than usual upon
winking back into existence. Too late for PT to get me up last night, so danced
around this morning before they kicked me out. For those who have anxiously
awaited news of flatulence function - no problem - at all. You're welcome.
Main issue was nearly exploding bladder. That was more uncomfortable than hip.
Took about eight hours to make that puppy work right. You're welcome.
Back to boat before noon to practice beached whale impression. Did fine job.
Walked up the road to pub for dinner and now continuing enactment, with drugs.
Again, thanks to everyone who wrote with good wishes, even Rich Bentley, BMF
(you can use that acronym any way you wish), who also requested he be notified
if I died so he could send flowers and clean up his address book, he claims, in
that order.
Dustin Reynolds, who I've mentioned, just gave an excellent, entertaining video
interview with "Captain German Exploring" at this URL:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=S1M_VSoMtOw. Dustin is the
nicest fellow, a gentleman who embodies the concept of adventure. His story is
a lesson for everyone that what happens to you is far less important than what
you do about it. Highly recommended.
