Are You Positive?

19 December 2020 | West Palm Municipal Dock
Thursday 17 December 2020

West Palm Municipal Dock is free to use. It's limited to daytime only. We stayed overnight. Nobody bothered us. Tentatively plan is to remain until new parts arrive. If anybody asks we'll whine that we have no steering and hope they don't understand autopilots and emergency tillers. Normally wouldn't flout reasonable rules, but getting on and off requires timing tides, is potentially a challenge and others may take all the space when we need it. Still, nobody loves a scofflaw.

America's Cup racing occurs at 1500. That's 2100 here. However Muttonhead, after traveling across international dateline for years and knowing better, didn't reflect that it was eighteen hours earlier not six hours later. First race was Thursday afternoon, Wednesday night in Florida. Oh well, we watched highlights on Youtube this morning at coffee. American Magic won both its races, Team New Zealand and Luna Rossa got one each and Ben Aislie's Ineos UK was skunked. Doctor M may have it figured out by tonight.

Saturday

Nobody that we asked in West Palm seems to get NBC Sports Gold so AC racing is via computer. After staying up Thursday trying to listen on computer in raucous Irish pub, then at home using expensive mobile data until midnight decided to preserve both beauty sleep and data and catch reruns each morning at Starbucks. Apparently no one around here watches or cares so expect no occasion where someone discusses winners inducing us to stick fingers in ears and holler "la la la".

Have decided on a new maintenance regimen: one project a day. Your adulation is appreciated, thank you. Of course, this may not be quite what you think. It does not mean every day. but does prohibit more than one. Basically it's exactly the same as before: only work when absolutely necessary and do as little as possible. However, this new plan sounds wonderfully conscientious and delightfully responsible. It allows me to bask in the glow of everyone's high regard and feel really good about myself. Good spin like good intentions is so much easier than positive results.
