New Spin
Sunday 9 May 2021
As Mickey's big hand, little hand and another more active appendage that we don't discuss in polite company move, albeit at different rates, past twelve and we proceed into the bulk of Mother's Day, the crew of Anthem tinker about, working hard to take it easy (oxymoron?). We are, after all, not mothers except in the broadest sense (mothah). As waterproofing arrived yesterday we could be removing bimini for treatment, but the prognosis isn't good. Perhaps the forecast will improve by tomorrow. We bide our time in tremulous anticipation.
Next week does indeed bode a somewhat more energetic circumstance as several shipments should arrive including: varnish, dinghy light and Mediterranean chart. May also hear from company that is working on new mattress for forward bunk and drive to Sarasota for shipping off parts we have been carrying for SV Inspiration Lady whom we were to have intersected with in Trinidad a year ago. Their boat is still there, where borders may remain closed due covid until end of year, while its crew in Ontario experience all four seasons plus a few.
Wednesday
Made trek out to Gulf of Mexico Monday to finally fly the spinnaker purchased some time ago. She's a beaut. May even rouse myself to install a photo. Yesterday drove to Sarasota with parts for mates in Trinidad & Tobago and Canada. Also patronized Blue Dolphin breakfast cafe on St. Armand's Key, changed oil in borrowed car, picked up prescriptions, had burger at Woody's Waterside beach bar and showered at the marina. Big day, so this morning after reorganizing boat where parts were carried, expect to squander rest of day around Moorings pool and get sozzled on Busch NA. Early dinner with Angela and longtime mates Bob & Trish Birenstock before going home. Had a wonderful time, but man that was boring in the telling.
Thursday
Jan gets folded, spindled and mutilated (how many remember when computer storage involved that?) this morning at Gateway Diagnostics Imaging before going back to Dr. Labrador, end of month, for last bit of medical checkuping before we're cut loose onto the North Atlantic. Meantime the plan is coming together, although as is our wont, something will be forgotten. Hope it's not important.
