Hour approaches to leave impending swelter of Florida summer for the wilds of the Atlantic. Northern storms have retreated to hibernate for several months and tropical activity has yet to begin in earnest. Expect to drive around to West Palm Beach for fuel and required negative covid test before jumping off around north side of Little Bahama Bank to Bermuda. Appears we'll be hard on a light breeze for most of the way and probably use significant Pleistocene ooze.
Departure is delayed until after Tuesday to pick up forward bunk bed as old one was defiled by salt water and sugary sodas that exploded due microscopicly thin aluminum (probably that cheap al u MIN ium stuff that's sold in Britain). Inviting guests to sleep on the incorrigibly damp and manky mattress has riddled us with guilt which coaxed the day or two wait. This has been in the works for two months with salesman knowing we were leaving by June and saying he would call when inventory arrived. As time got too short with no word we canceled to be told they had received and cut mattress to order, but still without a cover. Crikey! We'll have to find an appropriate material for Jan to sew when able.
Holiday weekend and Boca Ciega Bay is a washing machine on turbo. Next two days likely the same with general summer boating activity increasing. Also weather this afternoon is already darn sultry. Time to beat feet.
Conspiracy news from the Center For Inquiry:
"Disappointment of the year: The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine will not allow your body to connect to Bluetooth. Ha, joke's on you, nothing reliably connects to Bluetooth!"
