Only Fair Winds
27 June 2021 | Day One to Azores
Sunday 27 June 2021
After breakie at Temptations on York, clearing out and shipping dink for passage, departed St. George's at 1300 on close reach about seventy degrees off a direct course to Horta in beautiful conditions. Confidence that weather will remain perfect for entire two weeks is beyond measure. Latest GRIB (Gibberish Relying on Insipid Bunk) indicates minimal sailing wind through tomorrow afternoon at which point it goes to nothing for a day or two before switching around west, behind us. While necessary to limit engine runs for fuel conservation, worry not; we can break out long oars for galley wench. Exercise will do her good.
Since Bermuda is northern tip of infamous triangle we are now completely safe from all harm except, you know, the regular things, so take note. If nobody hears from us for awhile it's not a mystical disappearance, it's because we're too lazy to write or, you know, sank. Doesn't matter which, don't bother calling for help. If we haven't activated an EPIRB rescue beacon (have three) it will be either too early or too late. If no word by New Year's remember us by pouring a pint of Guinness into the ocean... you may prefer to pass it through your kidneys first.
