Nothing For It

It's after noon and so far a comprehensive day of sloth. No doctors,
no meetings, no ambitions. We zone out in slacker heaven. Breakfast?
Even hunger is not propelling us out of bed. This can't last much
longer, but for the moment is beatific ennui without the
dissatisfaction. Don't worry, be happy.
New Year's Eve
After cardiologist yesterday certified Jan was healthy as a horse (and,
as she professes, half as smart) we walked around Singapore's Botanical
Garden - shrubbery. Fortunately there were a few fountains and
waterfalls as well and, in fairness, the extensive orchid garden was
fantastic. For dinner considered Greek and Thai, but reverted to
Turkish at a restaurant by the big Sultan Mosque. Would have been
excellent had they not delivered Jan's dinner twenty five minutes after
mine. Gave us free baklava to apologize.
Having nothing to do this morning, we did that. However, it appears
this period of bliss is about to end as Jan is showing preliminary
signs of ambition. There has been one productive effort, however, as
we found a much nicer hotel near the Singapore River so the cripple
will be more comfortable upon her release from hospital. There's a
Starbucks, two minutes walk.
Anticipate carousing with SV Antares mates this evening to welcome
beginning of yet another year, which for most may be better than this
one, which was almost certainly better than previous two. We live in
hope. Highlights for us will be getting improved body parts, sailing
around Mediterranean then crossing Atlantic to Caribbean in detached
concert with several buddy boats. As previously mentioned, if you keep
moving, it's harder for the buzzards to find you. A rolling yacht
gathers no barnacles.
