Out Of The Basement

25 October 2024 | Solomon's, Maryland
Monday 21 October 2024

Flight back to Baltimore through Detroit had one seat left so we
demurred. Next connection also one seat, but a no show got us on to...
Atlanta. Arrrrgh! However, flight to Baltimore was same concourse as
arrival and although showing full we got on. Our luck had turned! Not
so fast there sparky. Upon arrival to within a sixty five dollar Uber
ride of Annapolis discovered bag was routed through JFK and wouldn't
show up for four hours. Moldering half the night in an airport is not
a top ten dream and all bars near baggage claim were closed. No
'however' followed this 'arrrrgh'! Hope a Lyft driver (cheaper than
Uber) is still awake at eleven pm.

Thursday

Despite worst intentions Tuesday, was nevertheless somewhat helpful as
Adrian removed and disassembled his mast to replace rod rigging. He'll
be at that and something or other for a couple of weeks before heading
south.

Have forgotten what happened Wednesday, but it must not have been too
awful.

Currently engaged in beautiful sail down Chesapeake to Solomon's for
dinner and perhaps the odd guzzle with good mates from Antares II
having dinghy davits installed before they head south. Installed new
VHF underway and for inexplicable reasons it works perfectly. Last bit
toasted by voltage spike, a stereo radio, should arrive Solomon's
tomorrow.

Friday

Periodic quest to refill propane was successful as mates had rented
car. Great dinners both nights with them. Guinness seems to be
available everywhere nowadays proving, despite ongoing political
debasement, that life is getting better and better. Don't worry; be
happy!
