Iron Ore Town

We arrived at the inlet channel for Gladstone about 2 hours before sunset and as we motored into the setting sun we had to share the channel with huge iron ore ships entering port. The journey in the channel was spectacular as we motored towards the setting sun that was converted into a rich orange sphere by a recent dust storm. It was spectacular.
The marina area had been developed over the last few years by the Port Authority and was very well set out with landscaped gardens and lovely walks. Over the next days we found the Sailing Club, some nice resteraunts and visited the local lookout. Sadly we also had to say goodbye to Pip.
The good news was that Elizabeth arrived back on board. Aphelion had undergone a "spring claen" by all the crew before Elizabeth arrived...Thanks guys..well done.
