Sunny & 70F
We are securely tied on a dock in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina & enjoying the SUNSHINE!!
We arrived yesterday at 1:30pm, having traveled a short 45 miles from Southport NC. Dave & Annie were on the dock to greet us & catch the lines...... having flown in from Ft Lauderdale the evening before.
How wonderful it is to feel the sunshine & put away the parka !! Yesterday was the first day we actually traveled without our hats, mittens & heavy jackets. The forecasted high here tomorrow is supposed to be in the 70's & even it it turns a bit cooler again at least we are on the right side of 60F.
This stop is the second leg of the trip from Lake Ontario & we probably will not make an extended stop again until we arrive in Melborne Florida around the end of November/first of December.
Yesteday & the day before we traveled thru the beautiful areas of North Carolina, huge homes built on the ICW, with their own little docks stretching across the marshes, separating the house from the water.
Also, we crossed a couple of inlets so close to the ocean that we could see the breakers. On the way north in 2010 this was an area that we really enjoyed & we were happy to have good weather so we could enjoy it again.
The channel can be very shallow in some of the areas we traveled thru but thanks to Cruisers Net & other support systems on the internet we knew what to expect & where to be very cautious, watching the tides carefully.
So, we are for today & tomorrow, enjoying the familiar sights of Myrtle Beach & checking out some of our old haunts going back to when we camped here when the kids were younger & when we kept a house trailer here in the late 80's. We have many fond memories of this area & this afternoon will take a drive thru the campground where we spent so many hours on the beach with the kids as they were growing up.
We are happy to have Dave & Annie on board & hopefully Dave, being the ultimate Weather God, brought the Florida sunshine to stay :)
We will be off the dock on Monday Nov 12th, our destination being Georgetown South Carolina & then Charleston the next day.
