Great Iguana Pig Roast
08 April 2012
No we didn't roast iguana's (though I'll bet they taste like chicken). Sunday is the famous Nipper's Pig Roast on Great Guana Cay, so we decided alter our plans and celebrate Easter by eating pork and drinking age-appropriate beverages in the sun. We had a beautiful sail in 12-15kts of wind on a beam reach, and made Fisher's Bay in 1.5 hours. It was really over too fast. Grabber's lost its dinghy dock in Hurricane Irene, so we beached the dinghy and walked across the island to Nippers. Wow, it was as packed as I've ever seen it. We watched the dancing scene for a while until it started to get a little "R" rated, then we went indoors and ate. Followed that up with a long walk on the white-sand beach below the bluffs of Nippers.
Coming back we had an adventure when the outboard died downwind from our boat. I couldn't get it restarted, and I had neglected to bring the oars. We were drifting very fast in the fresh breeze, but thankfully I had remembered to bring the dinghy anchor (give me SOME credit). We got the anchor set, and I went to work on the engine. I think we got some water in the fuel; working fine now. I'll never forget the oars again.
Everyone is having a great time. Weather is improving. Tomorrow we'll do some snorkeling at Fowl Cay, then on to Hope Town.
Happy Easter to All!
