Water Filtration Installed
13 September 2013
For as long as I've owned Aria, I have not taken so much as a sip out of the water tank. I've used that water for everything else, but the water we drink came from one-gallon water jugs stowed in nooks and crannies all over the boat. Of course, this isn't practical for longterm cruising. We must drink from our 100-gallon tank. Rather than install a system-wide filtration system - which I considered - I decided that it's sufficient to filter just the water for drinking.
So here it is. I completed the installation today. It's a two-stage GE system that I selected because it was cheap and the cartridges were short enough to fit under the sink. The faucet replaces the sprayer, which we never used anyway. Cartridges must be replaced every six months; a new entry for the maintenance log.
The moment of truth came. I filled a cup and drank. Tasted great. No more water jugs!
