Update on "The Lost KISS" List
18 October 2013
Aria belowdecks has looked like this a lot lately - ever since my "Lost K-I-S-S" post in June. After returning from our cruise to Hilton Head, with the boat's shortcomings fresh in my mind, I made a list of upgrades that I would complete before our departure for the Bahamas. It has kept me busy, that's for sure. With three weeks (gulp) remaining before our departure for the Exumas, here's a status update:
Electric Head: Installed. Love, love, love it!
Head Odor: Replaced all the sanitation hoses and treated the holding tank with Raritan KO. Did the trick.
Cockpit table: Ran out of time. Next year.
Satellite Broadband: Chose an Intellian FB150. Full report shortly.
Drinking tap: Installed. Why didn't I do this sooner?
More Fans: There are now Caframo fans whirling away in every nook and cranny of Aria, for a total of eight fans! Who needs AC?
Screens: Installed Oceanair hatch screens in forward and saloon hatches. Very happy with the quality of their product.
Boat Cover: I opted for hatch umbrellas, which seemed worth a try before a major canvas purchase.
Smaller Outboard: Changed my mind. Instead I removed the boarding ladder, which gives me easy access to the transom. With the hoist, the procedure of moving the outboard from the transom to the dinghy is very straightforward. I keep the ladder in the lazarette and install it when needed.
Adjustable Genoa Cars: Nah. They would intrude on the deck in a way that is unacceptable. Nixed.
