Back in the Keys
07 March 2016 | Duck Key, Florida
We are safely back in the Florida Keys after our sojourn to Western Florida - the Everglades, Thousand Islands, Marco Island and Naples. It was a fun break from the laid back Keys - though shaving every day was a real hardship. We had a great time in Marco and Naples, renting bikes, dining out, happy hours even a fascinating museum on tiny Marco Island. We found a fantastic anchorage at Marco, fully surrounded by homes and a Marina named Esplanade. Naples has a mooring field right at City Docks. We slept well and never worried about the boat.
The sail back was only a "sail" in the sense that we are on a sailboat. The engine was on most of the time as the water had, at times, turned to glass. It was an extreme beauty at the other end of the spectrum.
Though we are always loathe to turn on the engine, we needed to be in Hawk's Cay Marina for the arrival of Conrad, who joining us for spring break. We will spend the next week right here at this resort. Then on to the Bahamas next week!
