Back in Myrtle Beach
29 April 2016 | Myrtle Beach
Six months to the day since we left, Aria is back in her old slip in Little River. We left Grand Cay on Monday, sailing 520nm in four days. For us, that's a fast passage. A diurnal weather pattern made for rough weather at night followed by settled, gorgeous days. It became the rhythm of our little world - sunset, then the mounting howl of the wind, the Milky Way overhead, the rush of water past our hull, watch rotations, then sunrise, the wind settling, seas abating and so on. We could have kept going but all too soon the Grand Strand coastline rose out of the sea. We were home.
We are both in great spirits, happy to be back and enjoying the fruits of land living. But we are also anxious to continue our voyage. I choose to view this stopover as just another aspect of our voyage - to enjoy a summer in Myrtle Beach with our children, to reconnect with friends and family while working to get Aria ready for much bigger adventures in the fall. Yes, I'm going with that!
NOTE: Pic was taken at Grand Cay, right before our departure.
