Some Lessons learnt

Val and Rick
Departed Tippler's Resort after 2 relaxing nights. A very popular spot with the locals, including a few monster cruisers.
After nearly 3 hours we arrived at our destination at Canaipa Point. Not one of our more enjoyable trips, in fact quite stressful. We were travelling on a rising tide but it just wasn't rising fast enough. We grounded in the worse possible spot, very narrow channel with the tide running very fast across the shoals. But it gets better, trying to reverse off the bump, picked up a loose davit line in the starboard prop, fouling it. Expletives came thick and fast, Ricko was not a happy boyo and not relishing his unscheduled swim with knife in mouth. Although only in 3'9" of water, it was very fast flowing. After clearing the prop, we floated off and continued on our merry way with the depth sounder at times registering 0 beneath the keel.
The moral is, check the tides carefully.
