Val and Rick
After a very restful night, Rick's first job was to hose off all the bugs on the deck. We departed Garry's Anchorage 2 hours into a riding tide, safely negotiating Sheridan Flats and past Kingfisher Resort. We would have enjoyed a few hours here but the forecast 15-20 knot south westerly breeze would have made the anchorage quite uncomfortable. The rain set in, wind piped in and we battled on to Scarness in Hervey Bay, anchoring in 2 metres of water, 1/2 mile from the shore. A bit rolly with tide changes and no chance to get to shore as it continued to rain well into the evening.
Departed Scarness 0820 hours for Bundaberg in glorious sunshine and enjoyed a few hours with the screecher in action. Unfortunately the breeze dropped out and we motor sailed the last few miles. Entered the Burnett River at 1400 hours, topped up fuel and water and enjoyed a lovely dinner at the marina restaurant to celebrate our first 2 months of married bliss. Unfortunately didn't have time to get to the shops so Rick is still without beer on the boat! The restaurant sold us a frozen loaf of bread but the rest of the supplies will need to wait until we get to Rosslyn Bay in about 4 days.
While at the restaurant we were advised that boat traffic is forbidden on the river at night as the lead lights are still not repaired after the flood in February. Quite pleased about that actually, guess we won't be heading off at 0500 hours after all!
