Finally
24 July 2013 | Enroute to Magnetic Island

Yes, finally we had fish for dinner at Cape Upstart. We caught a beautiful 15 kg Spanish Mackerel off Abbott Point as we were weaving between the anchored coal ships. We were sailing along in 14 knots of breeze, noticed the lure had been taken and just as we started reeling it in up comes the breeze to 20 knots. Not usually a problem but we still had the screecher up so what a circus it turned into. We should have videoed the show, worthy of an academy award by some members of the crew. Luckily with first class passengers Carol and Keith on board, we finally got the fish on board, had to drop the screecher as we couldn't furl it, didn't collide with one of the freighters and no serious injuries to crew or passengers even though Keith fell backwards onto Rick's beautiful red gum cockpit table.
We had a wonderful 3 days in Double Bay East and met up with quite a few "Shaggers". We cooked potatoes on the beach, had sundowners on the beach and aboard a beautifully restored 50' ketch 'Silver Gull". Carol and Keith arrived on the 19th and enjoyed a few days around The Whitsundays and are now travelling north for a few weeks with us.
We will probably spend a week at Magnetic Island before provisioning and getting the motors serviced in Townsville.
